You know it really isn't a big sin to point out that someone was pretending to have written a great spoof of cornell while not acknowledging the real writer. Once again, a tempest in a teapot. I said the post was hilarious regardless (and it is), yet the room still puts on it's gloves and looks for a meaningless, personally vindictive fight. Apologies, making nice--these things aren't bullshit.

You know, you just aren't worth it. There are much better gd forums, places where folks ask honest questions and look forward to honest answers without watching their thread die in the hands of the few who turn the post into a personal conversation. And where people neither give nor take offense.

This forum seems, as often as not, a place where certain posters just like to masturbate in public and others like to
take out their hostilities on strangers. You don't really have much to say, much to add to the music itself. So many posts are just tedious pokings at the infinite minutiae of this or that inflection in this or that song in this or that year or some other meaningless thread.

I have been told several times to get a life, as have many of you. I won't bother to regale you with the richness of my life, the happiness of my life, or how fulfilled I am as an individual. But I might suggest that some of you seriously consider getting lives or at least graduating to video games.

You just aren't worth it.

I'm off to get that life.

Not at you. In general.

But I will ask, Ssag: I do something to you personally for you to spend five posts in one thread flaming me for the high crime of calling someone out for plagiarizing? Friendly sort of a fellow. Temper, temper, my good man. Manners. And decent syntax, for God's sake.

This just isn't fun. Quitting the forum is not in direct response to a particular attack. It is in response to the general posturing and the lack of substance. I just really do not enjoy things around here. No significant discussion of particular concerts. Dr. Flahback is gone--shame, becaue he actually posted NEWS--and you all read it with gusto and responded. Gone. No articulation about what really makes the band work for you. No polite defense of why the Brent era is so hot. No threads that don't disintegrate into personal instant messages about booze or broken legs (and, I, too am sorry you are sitting on the sidelines, Dire--I just don't think threads about the music are the right spots for that. A separate thread would be better all around) or other off topic entries before the thread is ready to expire. Favorites and favoritism. Forum hogs. And people who simply cannot say "I think that was unfair or a little harsh." and then let it go. It's all too easy to take the bait, as I well know. These petty squabbles lead to some serious ugliness which pours a huge cloud over the purported proceedings. Since I came on this board, I have watched folks deliberately flame others without cause, get abusive,
joke about serious matters, and, for all of this, say very little about the Grateful Dead. Very little. And then the posts that get 100 reads but only 2 replies. What are the other 988 of you doing? (I don't even want to know). No opinion? No thoughts? I guess not. Gives new meaning to the term Dead Heads.

So it's like attending a club in which five guys stand on the podium whacking off while the rest of the members sit in their seats waiting for the big five to start to fight and then pretend they are really just buds. Meanwhile, the audience is sitting listlessly, waiting for someone to say something to make their trip to the auditorium worthwhile. And sometimes they do hear something. But mostly it's dribble and venom.

And eventually most of them get bored and leave.

It's just not fun.

Flames on, boys.

Dr flashback is gone?...maybe there was tragedy in his life, maybe he died....or is on a trek without computers at hand (ahhhhh! now that sounds appealing at times)
maybe-maybe!

Orchid.... no. I don't want you to leave.
If I am able to still be here after the months of what I've been through, then you don't give up either.

that's totally the opposite of what I said in a post a few days ago about respecting everybody's wishes, and understanding those who need to take a break. So since I'm being completely selfish I'm going to put on my cheerleader's uniform (once again) and say that all of Deadhook will welcome you, and I will be there to do it, too.
